As part of the objectives of the EGTC Future Paths, the flagship project is the revitalisation of the railway corridor Ljubljana – Novo mesto – Karlovac – Zagreb, along with sustainable mobility, multifunctional infrastructure and the promotion of cross-border cooperation in all relevant areas are being developed simultaneously. After several years of interruption, it will once again be possible to symbolically travel across the border from the Metlika railway station to Ozalj and Karlovac, or to travel from Karlovac and Ozalj across the border to the Metlika railway station. On the Karlovac – Metlika – Karlovac route, the carrier “HŽ Putnički prijevoz” has introduced several initial cross-border replacement bus lines that will substitute the train service until the railway traffic is re-established. We expect the opening of the section between Karlovac and Ozalj soon. For the section between Ozalj and Metlika, we expect the preparation of a feasibility study in the coming year.

The first replacement buses operate on the route Duga Resa – Karlovac – Bubnjarci – Metlika and back. Connections are available on all working days. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, replacement buses will not operate.
