new visual identity

In 2025, the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) “Future Paths Ljubljana–Novo mesto–Karlovac–Zagreb” adopted its comprehensive visual identity, which brings together the key symbols of the cross-border region and reflects a vision of a connected future.

At the heart of the logo is a stylised depiction of Trdinov vrh (on the Slovenian side) / Sveta Gera (on the Croatian side), the highest peak of the Gorjanci/Žumberak range, which symbolically and geographically links Slovenia and Croatia. This point is the natural and symbolic summit of cooperation—both literally and figuratively.

The logo includes four arches reminiscent of the distinctive structural elements of railway viaducts, such as those in Velike Loke and Otovec near Črnomelj. The arches are not only an architectural reference but also a symbol of bridges that connect people, ideas, and regions.

The number of arches in the logo is not accidental—four arches represent the four rivers (Korana, Kupa, Mrežnica, and Dobra) that flow through the city of Karlovac—an important centre of the region and a symbol of flow, connectivity, and vitality.

The mark is partially embraced by a curved line symbolising the paths of the future—our orientation towards sustainable mobility, innovation, and cooperation across borders. This stroke unites the dynamics of movement and openness.

The visual identity predominantly employs green and blue hues. Green reflects Slovenia’s natural environment, forests, and sustainability, while blue symbolises Croatia’s identity, its connection with water, and the Adriatic Sea. Together they create a harmony of the shared space we seek to connect.

The concept of the visual identity was developed under the guidance of the EGTC’s Director, Marko Vukobrat, while the visual design was created by the young designer Ajda Bajc Cihlar, who sensitively wove together the symbolism of place, architecture, and nature into a unified visual language.
